Thoughts on Julian Assange and on comparing him to Bradley Manning.

I don't know much about Manning, but my guess is he's still very much a statist, still patriotic, still pro-military. (Correct me if I'm wrong :p.) My guess is he was merely trying to slightly reform the military, that he probably still loves. Merely tried to redecorate the murder-machine that is the military. And I think this is why he is given so much attention -- he supports the status-quo. His only real opposition are a few high-ranking military people. Even Assange is a statist, albeit slightly more radical in his visions to redecorate it. He poses a threat to a few more people, like high-ranking politicians from many countries, but no real threat to the bulk of the population. Who you will never hear discussed or admired by the mainstream is anyone who actually believes in fundamental change -- in principled non-violence. You will never see an anarchist get such attention. The mainstream will only hear what they want to hear.
